DERA GHAZI KHAN, July 15: Health authorities of Rajanpur have allegedly distributed expired medicines among the flood stricken people of the area, Dawn learnt on Friday. Sources alleged that the health authorities of Rajanpur district were responsible for the distribution of expired medicines among the flood victims.

When contacted, Rajanpur executive district officer was not available for his comment while district health officer Dr Shahnaz said during a relief campaign launched by the health department, it came to her knowledge that some expired medicines were in the stock which had to be distributed among the flood victims. However, these medicines were sorted out from the stock and were destroyed.

She denied the distribution of expired medicines among the flood stricken people.

She claimed that the health department had set up 23 flood relief camps in the district and around 30,000 affected people benefited from these camps.

Dr Shahnaz maintained that health department teams had reached inaccessible areas like Sonmiani, Bangla Iccha, Rojhan, to provide relief.

NOMINATION PAPERS: The nomination papers for local body election can be obtained and submitted from the offices of returning officers from July 16 to 20.

Assistant election commissioner Nadeem Zubair said on Friday 855 polling stations and 2,720 booths would be set up in 59 union councils of the district.

He said 360,489 women and 423,465 men were eligible voters in the district.

He said 10 returning officers had been appointed in the district — one for tribal area tehsil, seven for Dera tehsil and two for Taunsa tehsil.
