ISLAMABAD, July 15: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday urged the government to take serious notice of hike in the rates of poultry. ICCI President Tariq Sadiq, in a statement, said in the recent budget the poultry industry was greatly facilitated as compared to other sectors, but the rates of poultry products were increasing instead of declining.

He observed that poultry products were consumed by common man, so the government should take immediate notice of the huge increase in its price.

Tariq Sadiq stated that the government had been taking measures to facilitate the general public and in this regard duty free import of potatoes, onions, ginger and meat were announced from India, but the rates of these commodities were still very high in the market.

He added that there was a shortage of these items in the market and prices had become out of the reach of common man. He said meat was being exported and as a result, its price was increasing day-by-day. He requested the government to impose a ban on its export to bring meat price down in the local market.—APP
