KARACHI: Health training course

KARACHI, July 15: Some 10 executive district officers (EDOs) from various districts of the country are being trained in health management system during a three-week training programme aimed to strengthen district health system, enhancing the managerial and technical competencies of senior healthcare professionals of the government. The training programme has been organized by the College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), in collaboration with the World Health Organization and Ministry of Health and will continue till July 20.

Two EDOs from each province and one from Azad Jammu Kashmir are participating in this course.

All the three partners- Ministry of Health, the WHO and the CPSP are working towards a common goal which is to improve the health status of the population through strengthening technical and professional competencies of the EDOs and DHOs by addressing professional and managerial deficiencies in the district health system.

The training course for the EDOs covers five major areas of health service management including organization, human resource management, epidemiological concepts in health management, PHC and Millennium Development Goals, Computers.—PPI
