SUKKUR, July 14: Police resorted to aerial firing and used teargas to disperse over 600 people who attacked the Hesco office on Thursday night. The protesters, raising slogans against Hesco officials, set on fire the SDO-III office and later tried to set ablaze the main Hesco office on the Minara Road. They also pelted stones at the offices. The protestors regretted that power supply to a major portion of Old Sukkur was disrupted early Thursday morning and it was not restored even after the lapse of 20 hours.

They said Hesco officials had cut the power supply to save line losses.

When contacted, Sadoro Shaikh of the Hesco operation division said four electricity poles had fallen in the area due to water-logging and work to erect the poles was continuing. He said the power supply would be restored in an hour.
