Pak Heroes lift trophy

LAHORE, July 13: Pak Heroes Club defeated Noble Hockey Club 6-4 on penalty strokes in the final of the Lahore District Inter-club hockey championship at National Hockey stadium on Wednesday.

The pace of the match was commendable as both the teams had included some seasoned players who displayed good stick work. Center forward Raja of Pak Heroes opened the account in the 9th minute of the first half with a field goal but Zubair Riaz of Noble Club converted a penalty corner in the 20th minute to equalize the score.

The first half of the match finished equal at 1-1. Both the teams made good moves to attack opposite goals but no one could score further and the match finished at 1-1 at the final whistle.

As many as 16 teams affiliated with the Lahore District Hockey Association participated in the championship.—PPI
