The Christchurch terrorist attack drew an extraordinary response from the people of New Zealand who came forward in a big way to comfort the victims’ families. Steps taken by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern were admirable.

But here people are silent on the massacre of the Hazara people in Quetta. Is it just because of the sectarian issue? Why are we not thinking as a whole? Why are we divided on sectarian lines, which has been a reason for disunity and strife among our people?

We should have shown solidarity with the Hazara community the way New Zealanders showed with Muslims. We could have learnt a lesson from them that being a Christian, Muslim or from any other religion, doesn’t matter. One must be a human.

ONCE again Balochistan is the victim of bloodshed. Fourteen innocent people were murdered by terrorists.

The media has reported time and again the terrorist acts committed in Balochistan are meant to create hurdles in the smooth functioning of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and stop the development and progress of Balochistan. The living proof is the capture of an Indian spy who carried out dozens of acts of sabotage and is now in Pakistan’s custody.

In the light of the above, shouldn’t the federal and Balochistan governments get their act together and obiliterate these enemies of Pakistan, ensuring security for the life and property of all citizens?
