GUJRAT/LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party’s Punjab president and former federal minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has advised the Prime Minister Imran Khan to opt for going to the people of Pakistan to seek a fresh mandate after his government’s miserable failure on all fronts.

“The prime minister should apologise to the nation for making false promises as his selectors should also come to know that the current set-up in the country is incompetent to run the government,” he told Dawn in his hometown Lalamusa.

He said in case the PM did not seek apology right now, he would have to do it after next six months.

“If the PM does not opt for a dialogue with the other parties in the parliament for a pro-people government for legislation nor he seeks apology to rectify his mistakes, then the only option left with him is go to the people for a fresh mandate,” he said.

Commenting on the resignation of Asad Umar, the PPP leader said that the former finance minister had portrayed himself as a brain of PTI but he badly failed.

Talking to media in Lahore on Friday, Kaira said that new petroleum adviser to the prime minister Nadeem Babar was a defaulter of Rs860 million to the SNGPL.

“PM Imran Khan’s new choice for petroleum ministry, Nadeem Babar is a SNGPL defaulter of Rs860 million besides he is facing an investigation by the National Accountability Bureau.”

He said an arbitration court in London had also given its verdict against Babar who was also involved in the matters of the Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park and Lahore Waste Management Company.
