KARACHI, July 13: Adviser to Chief Minister on Local Government Waseem Akhtar on Wednesday directed the City Government to start work on low cost housing project. “At least 100 acres be identified in three days where first phase of the project can be launched”, he said while addressing a meeting at his office. The meeting was attended by EDOs Enterprise and Investment Promotion, Revenue, Finance and Planning, MD Water Board and other concerned officials.

The advisor said flats and houses would be constructed in the low- cost housing project with the assistance of HBFC.

With proper attention, not only the expansion of katchi abadis could be controlled, but better quality housing facilities would be provided to low-income people with availability of all basic facilities of life.

He asked for list of MoUs signed during the last four years for a review.

He called for preparation of drafts for Price Control Ordinance and Packed Food Ordinance and said these would be discussed in detail in the meeting to be held on Monday.—APP
