LAHORE: Prime minister’s special assistant Naeemul Haq has said the government will fulfill Imran Khan’s promise to the nation by recovering the “looted money from the corrupt”.

Speaking to the media persons at a cricket match held under the auspices of Insaf Sports and Cultural Federation here on Sunday, Mr Haq asserted that the corrupt and the looters would have to return the nation’s wealth and face punishment according to the law.

Answering a question, he said, the issues being faced by 120 million population of Punjab could not be resolved immediately owing to the failure of the existing system.

He hoped the local bodies’ elections would empower people at tehsil level to get their problems resolved.

He said the prime minister had asked the law minister to come up with six or seven laws that should help the masses to get their problems resolved, besides ensuring cheap and speedy justice.

Answering a question about the National Accountability Bureau raids to arrest Punjab Assembly opposition leader Hamza Shahbaz, Mr Haq held the PML-N leader responsible for the situation outside his Model Town house.

He said Hamza obtained a stay order from the court on an off-day.

To another question, Mr Haq said the Zardari family’s popularity would be exposed after the next free and fair elections.
