DERA GHAZI KHAN: Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar, father of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, passed away at his residence in Taunsa Sharif on Monday.

Sardar Fateh, a three-time MPA from Dera Ghazi Khan, was also the chief of the Buzdar tribe, and an agriculturalist. He also taught in a public school.

He is survived by his widow, five sons and five daughters.

Son of Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Buzdar, Sardar Fateh was born in Barthi. He obtained an MA in Political Science in 1964 from the Karachi University.

He served as a member of the Federal Council, Majlis-i-Shura, from 1983-84, and as a member of the Dera Ghazi Khan district council. He remained the chairman of the Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Auqaf from 2003-07.

He was elected MPA in 1985, 2002 and 2008. During his political career, he was associated with the PML-Q, the PML-N and the Janoobi Punjab Soba Mahaz. President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, chief ministers of Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, all provincial governors, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif, PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Husain, MPAs, MNAs and people from different walks of life condoled Mr Buzdar over the demise of his father and extended sympathies to him.

Funeral prayers of Sardar Fateh was offered in Taunsa Sharif in Sulaiman Park and later at native village Barthi Tuman Buzdar tribal area where Jahangir Tareen, the chief secretary, the inspector general of police, cabinet members, local MPAs and MNAs were present.
