LAKKI MARWAT, July 10: Politicians here have geared up their campaign to mobilize support for their candidates in the upcoming local councils’ polls. The leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League, Salim Saifullah Khan, during his tour of the district held meetings with party workers and supporters, besides holding talks with the political heavyweights and notables of the area.

The Saifullah family was endeavouring to enter into seat adjustment with other political groups against their political rivals hailing from the PML-N, sources said, adding that Mr Khan keeping in view people’s spiritual and sentimental attachment with religious leaders had also approached the district Amir of the JUI-S, Maulana Habibullah Haqqani.

“The JUI-S has summoned a meeting on July 13 to devise a strategy for the local councils’ polls and seat adjustment with other political parties,” the sources said, adding that the Saifullah family has rented buildings in the Lakki city, Serai Naurang, Serai Gambila and Tajazai for setting up election camp offices, whereas the family residence at Ghaznikhel village would be used as the main election camp office and public contact office.
