KARACHI: Doctors at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital continued their protest for the 10th consecutive day for their demands leaving hundreds of patients in distress, who had arrived at the major health facility in the city’s Central district for treatment.

Witnesses at the hospital said the outpatient department of the hospital remained closed while doctors worked at the emergencies.

Mostly during the days of protest, main gate of the OPD was closed for visitors who came there from various parts of the city.

The protest is being spearheaded by the Young Doctors Association, who warned that the protest would be intensified more if their demands were not met.

The doctors are mainly protesting against delays in the release of their salaries which certain officials in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation said were caused by a paucity of funds.
