KARACHI, July 10: Mounds of filthy and rubbish material taken out from a nullah has been dumped on either sides of a bridge that bifurcates Federal B’ Area with North Nazimabad, creating hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic, besides polluting the atmosphere.

During a visit to the locality one would see that the motorists proceeding either towards North Nazimabad’s Five-Star traffic intersection or towards Aisha Manzil intersection via the bridge often remain stuck up on the bridge and near the Landikotal roundabout as the rubbish material taken out from the nullah is scattered on at least three lanes of the bridge.

Already work on one track of a busy dual carriage road, Shahrah-i-Jehangir, which links the Landikotal roundabout with North Nazimabad’s Five-Star traffic intersection is progressing at an snail’s pace and as a result of which motorists taking this route have been facing difficulties since long.

Presence of a large number of pushcarts selling fruits in the surrounding of of the Landikotal roundabout is also creating hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic as those buying fruits usually park their vehicles near the pushcarts, thereby creates a chaotic condition all around the roundabout.

People residing in the vicinity of the bridge where heaps of filthy and rubbish material taken out from the adjacent nullah has been dumped complained that although an extremely unhygienic condition had been prevailing there for the last four or five days, the officials concerned who have been assigned the task of cleaning nullahs, were paying no heed to their request of disposing of the garbage.

They demanded of the city government’s caretaker to direct the officials concerned to lift the rubbish material from the bridge.
