FAISALABAD: A man who allegedly shot his young wife dead over a domestic issue on Monday tried to conceal his crime by blaming it on his seven-year-old son.

Initially, Rizwan, a resident of Jhang Bazaar area, told Kotwali police that his minor son Azan Ali was playing with his (Rizwan’s) licenced pistol at his house. He said that the minor, considering it a toy gun was aiming it at his mother (Rizwan’s wife) Hina Fatima (26), when the pistol went off, critically injuring the woman. She expired while being shifted to hospital.

Kotwali Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Malik Shahid told the media that during investigation he noticed that Rizwan was trying to conceal facts and took him into custody for interrogation.

He said that on probing further the suspect revealed that he had murdered his wife over a domestic dispute and later concocted the story involving his minor son to conceal his crime.

The DSP said that initial investigation showed that the couple had frequent quarrels.

He said a case was going to be registered against the suspect.
