Arrest warrants issued for Shaukat Aziz

ISLAMABAD: The accountability court on Friday issued perpetual warrants of arrest for ex-prime minister Shaukat Aziz and his accomplice Arif Alauddin in a reference.

He was accused of misusing authority and causing loss to the national exchequer.

Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik issued the arrest warrants against the accused due to his continuous absence from proceedings in a corruption scam.

The court expressed displeasure over the absence of the accused and also issued arrest warrants against the other accused, Arif Alauddin.

The former prime minister is accused of illegally appointing Basharat Hasan Bashir as consultant for Alternative Energy Board on an MP-II scale salary package. The appointment was in violation of MP scale policy guidelines and the board’s regulations.

Who cares about his arrests. Will it solve the pakistan economy or few billions will be recovered. Only Certain people in Pakistan gov making money by creating this hype and enjoying foreign visits in the name of accountability. NAB is one of them.

@Bakhti, than what.....Need the resolve and resilience to bring corrupt to justice...When they are convicted....there comes serious health issues and try to play with the law and eventually rich and powerful wins....This is what it is....whether you like it or not...that is the ground reality... shoukat Aziz should be bring back and given full right to have answer in court, he was totally Indian support, during our stay in Citibank he was not supporting to Pakistani, retrenched them and higher Indian, when he become PM, some indian came and stay in Karachi Qasar Naz, as state guest. He should be full investigated by states agencies.

@Shabbir H. Kazmi, "Another attempt to malign a person who brought prosperity to Pakistan. Shaukat Aziz was very successful at Citibank. He should have continued there, instead of helping to stabilise the economy. Good lesson for successful Pakistani expats.
