LAHORE, Jan 12: The Provincial Election Commissio-ners have been asked to keep a strict watch on the enumeration staff to ensure that Afghan refugees or other foreigners are not registered as voters, it was officially stated here on Saturday.
The enumeration staff engaged for registration of voters has already been instructed to see that no Afghan refugee was registered.
A statement issued in this regard by the office of the Punjab PEC followed some reports that the Afghan refugees possessing bogus identity cards were being registered as voters. Any official found to have been negligent in this regard, it said, would be liable to strict disciplinary action.
The people, too, have also been requested to inform the enumeration staff or the assistant election commissioner of the district about any foreigner registered as a voter.
