PM Khan felicitates communities celebrating Nauroz

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday felicitated the communities that are observing the Nauroz festival.

"A Happy Nauroze to all those celebrating it," he said on Twitter.

The spring festival of Nauroz marks the first day of the Persian year and is celebrated by the Parsi, Ismaili and Shia communities. It is observed in Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asian states and parts of Pakistan, according to Radio Pakistan.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, the government announced a two-day official holiday on Wednesday and the traditional Tukhmrezi festival kicked off in Yasin valley in Ghizer district.

Apart from GB, other places where Nauroz in Pakistan is celebrated is Peshawar and among the Hazara community of Quetta. Also one must not forget people of Parsi heritage all over Pakistan especially from Karachi. Nauroz Mubarak to all

@Kunal majumdar, gurgaon, "How many Parsis are there in Pakistan?" They are migrating from India as well at an astronomical pace. Toronto is the new home to the Parsis of Karachi and Bombay. Any ways, in Pakistan we celebrate Noruz in Northern areas as well. Furthermore, there are lot of Iranians who live in Pakistan (like my parents) who migrated after the revolution of 1979. Noruz is still celebrated amongst our community also.

More than anything, Navroze is based on logical Solar calendar therfore everyone in Northern hemisphere can identify with it since it marks the arrival of spring. Happy Navroze all!
