Piracha group claims majority

SARGODHA, July 8: The Piracha group is enjoying a majority in the district and it will field its own candidate for the coveted district nazim’s slot after consultation with other opposition parties. This was stated by MNA Inamul Haq Piracha, who had called a press conference on Friday to dispel rumours of joining the ruling group to see better prospects of being elected the nazim.

He said although the local polls were being conducted on a party basis, they have affiliation with the PPP and can’t even think of joining hands with the PML.

He alleged that the ruling party had planned rigging, but the PPP together with its allies would frustrate their designs.

Meanwhile, the MMA leaders, including Dr Arshad Shahid, Malik Masoodul Hassan Sujra and Haji Javed Iqbal Cheema, said at a meeting the alliance would emerge successful in the election.

He said there was a possibility of adjustments, but changing loyalty was simply out of question.

The MMA has, it is learnt, decided to make an alliance with the PML-N and field the candidates under the umbrella of Alkhidmat group.

PML MNA Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema, a veteran politician, has claimed that his party candidates will be voted into power by the public.

MMA’S STRIKE: The MMA staged a rally on Friday to protest against raise in prices of petroleum products and other daily-use commodities.

The participants, most of them activists of the Jamaat-i-Islami, took to streets after Friday prayer. They demanded withdrawal of the recent increase in POL prices.
