KARACHI, July 8: A group of private institutions has demanded a separate seat for privately managed colleges in the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), Karachi. According to a coordinator of the Private Colleges’ Management Association, BIE should have three separate seats, instead of one, in the board for Government colleges, private colleges and high schools affiliated to it.
According to an estimate, there are 171 private colleges and their problems and issues need to be highlighted in the Board’s forum in an effective manner separately as those were different to those of the government colleges and high schools, added the coordinator.
It was further stated that BIE should also publish a list of all affiliated colleges every year for public awareness and to endorse their validity.
The association also demanded inclusion of private colleges in the Centralized Admission Policy of the City government as those colleges have equal or better facilities.
