KHAR/GHALANAI: The administration of Bajaur tribal district on Wednesday claimed to have foiled a bid of terrorism in by seizing different weapons and arms during an action in the hilly area of Mamond tehsil.

An official told journalists that the search operation was conducted by bomb disposal squad of Bajaur Levies on a tip-off in Nimat Khan Kallay, situated near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

He said that soon after receiving information about the presence of weapons and arms, a team of bomb disposal squad was dispatched to the area that recovered the weapons.

He said that the weapons included 11 rockets, a number of rocket launchers and mortar shells. The seized weapons were shifted to Levies lines in Khar. The official said weapons and arms were meant to be used in terrorist activities.

Meanwhile, Levies and Khasadar forces conducted a search operation in Zardalo Banda area of Ambar tehsil in Mohmand tribal district and seized a huge cache of weapons.

Briefing media, Assistant Commissioner Qaisar Alam Khan and Tehsildar Gohar Ali said that the raid was conducted after receiving information about the presence of weapons in Shati Meena Zardalo area near the border in Bajaur tribal district.

Qaisar Khan said that the seized weapons included 36 rockets, 75 rifle-propelled grenades, 21 fuses and explosives. The weapons were shifted to Ekkaghund.
