LAHORE: The Punjab Institute of Language Art and Culture is going to hold a series of functions to “promote Sufi wisdom, tolerance and peace” among the youth.

Pilac Director Dr Sughra Sadaf told Dawn on Sunday that the institute in an effort to spread the message of Sufi poets and their teachings among the youth would hold a series of functions at different colleges and universities across Punjab.

She said that in this connection on March 7 a conference would be held at the Government College University, Faisalabad, on noted Punjabi poet Maulvi Ghulam Rasool Alam Puri.

Similarly, another event titled ‘Mela Hashim Shah’ would be organised by Pilac at Narowal in April to celebrate the poetry and life of the classical Punjabi poet.

The director said that from March 24 to 26 Pilac would hold Mela Charaghan on its premises in connection with Shah Hussain’s Urs.

On the other hand, Shakir Ali Museum, Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), is celebrating 103rd birth anniversary of the renowned painter Shakir Ali on 6th March. There will be a cake cutting ceremony and a solo painting exhibition of Saima Asghar’s works in connection with the celebrations.

The PNCA is also collaborating for the upcoming Artists Association of Punjab exhibition to be held at the Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall.
