Gepco sets up crisis cells

MANDI BAHAUDDIN, July 6: The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) has established four crisis management cells in the division in order to tackle any emergency situation during rainy season, Mandi Bahauddin XEN Akhtar Ali said in a press release here on Wednesday. The cells set up at the city, Gujranwala Cantt, Sialkot and Gujrat circles will work round the clock under the directions of Gepco Chief-Executive Saifullah Khalid, he said.

Mr Ali said special complaint cells at the MB Din XEN office (Ph.504920), urban SDO (Ph.502719), Lalazar Colony SDO (Ph. 509822), Malikwal SDO (Ph. 591575), and Dinga SDO office (Ph. 04337-400127) would redress public complaints without any delay.

The XEN urged the citizens to avoid touching electric installations, power poles and inform the local complaint office in case of any untoward situation during the rainy season.

No alliance: The PML-N district chapter has not made any alliance with any party and the decision to this effect will be taken after an ARD leaders’ meeting on July 8 at the PML-N district office.

This was said by party’s district Senior Vice-President Munawwar Iqbal Gondal in a press briefing here on Wednesday.

He said the ARD leadership was trying to unite all democratic forces and the MMA at one platform to contest local government polls. Mr Gondal said he would contest the district nazim election if the party leadership decided in his favour.

AIOU PAPER: An English-B paper of the Allama Iqbal Open University, which had been cancelled, will be held on July 14, the university’s regional office sources said here on Wednesday.

Candidates will not be issued any further roll number slips, the sources added.
