LAHORE, July 5: PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif has urged political parties to learn from their past mistakes and work for a better future. He said the country’s welfare was the foremost priority for his party, and it was willing to make sacrifices at all levels to achieve this goal. He said this while speaking at a meeting of bankers in London.
Shahbaz Sharif underlined the need for an independent judiciary. For this purpose, he proposed the establishment of a special authority to make appointments in the judiciary.
He said a clear law and order policy with identifiable goals and an independent judiciary was the keystone of the democratic system. “A stable and peaceful Pakistan will encourage foreign investment, because there will be a certainty in the legal, political and economic system. Investors and the ordinary will have confidence in due process of law,” he said.
He underlined the need to eradicate poverty by addressing its root causes, such as lack of employment, low literacy and poor health.
He said the success of the economic system depended upon the organic growth of the economy.
Shahbaz called for a new system of education through reforms which would launch the country in the competitive global arena.
“This would arm Pakistan with desired capabilities to meet the standards of the new world order,” he said.
