ABBOTTABAD, June 5: A special tribunal comprising Justice Dost Mohammad Khan of the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday recorded statements of various parties in the controversy between Haripur and Abbotabad districts over the “Abbotabad Gravity Water Scheme”. The tribunal was constituted by NWFP Governor Khalilur Rehman a few days ago after the inhabitants of Haripur objected to the Japanese-funded scheme aimed at providing clean drinking water to Abbotabad.

Justice Dost Mohammad heard the Minister of State for Finance Omer Ayub Khan, who belongs to Haripur, ex-District Nazim Abbottabad Col (retd) Mustafa Jadoon, Secretary Works NWFP Riaz Khan, DRO Abbottabad Fareed Khan, XEN Public Health Nimatullah Khan, ex-SE works and services Farhat Amooz Khan, Tehsildar Haripur, DRO Haripur, president Anjuman-e-Kashkitakran Haripur and representatives of peasants from Haripur appeared before the tribunal.

Revenue records were produced while technical feasibilities were also produced by the engineering staff of Haripur and Abbottabad districts. The tribunal will resume proceedings on July 6.—Correspondent
