GHALANAI: People belonging to different villages of Haleemzai area of Mohmand tribal district staged a protest demonstration here on Saturday against excessive electricity loadshedding. They blocked the main Peshawar-Bajaur Road in Ghundai Kali area for some time.
The residents of Ghundai Kali, Yousafkhel, Ganjyan, Malook Kor, Ranakhel and other areas participated in the protest.
The protesters complained that they had been suffering over 20 hours of loadshedding, while some blue-eyed people were having uninterrupted power supply. They were chanting slogans against the district administration and Tesco over unjust distribution of power in the area.
The protesters complained that the Tesco was ensuring power supply to the steel and other factories while general public was facing up to 22 hours of loadshedding.
The protesters said due to low voltage electronic appliances were developing faults. They threatened that if the power supply was not regularised within a week then they would again block the road.
After the assurance of the administration officials, the protesters reopened the road and dispersed peacefully.
PARENTS DAY FUNCTION: Speakers at a parents’ day function of a private school on Saturday stressed that parents could play a pivotal role in shaping the attitude and behaviour of their children.
They appreciated the outstanding performances of students and extended congratulations to parents and teachers for enabling the students to become useful citizens.
On the occasion, students presented speeches and skits, enchanting the participants.
The function was also attended by JUI-F Mohmand district emir Arif Ahmad Haqqani, another party leader Maulana Samiullah, president all private schools association Bakhti Jan, president all teachers association Mohmand Marjan Ali, school principal Abdur Razaq, teachers and parents.
The speakers said enlightened nations were recognised through their respect for teachers and teachers were performing the difficult task of personality building of the nation.
They said developed nations got their outstanding positions only through education and that no development was possible without education.
