PESHAWAR: The Pakistan International Airlines launched its flight service from Peshawar to Sharjah and Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates, said an official statement issued here on Thursday.

Chief Operating Officer and Airport Manager of Bacha Khan International Airport, Obaidur Rehman Abbasi, was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony and saw off passengers from Peshawar to Sharjah. He said that night landing restrictions would soon be lifted and Peshawar would get night landing facilities.

The introduction of Peshawar-Sharjah and Peshawar-Al-Ain flights were a longstanding demand of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the new management of PIA fulfilled this demand. He said that expansion of BKIA, Peshawar, which was a state-of-the-art project, was in final stages and arrival facility would be opened for passengers by the end of March.

Multiple storied car parking was also in the planning and soon work on this project would start which would resolve the parking issue. BKIA is the fourth busiest airport in the country and average 13 international flights are operated there on daily basis.
