KARACHI, July 4: Centuries by Sarfraz Ahmed and skipper Waqas Haroon propelled Zone-VI to a massive 403 for nine against Zone-I in the PCB Karachi region Under-19 Inter-district Cricket Championship match at the Students Sports Ground on Monday. Sarfraz, a wicket-keeper/batsman, hammered 124 off 131 balls with the aid of 22 boundaries. He put on 156 for the third wicket with Saad Surkhail, who contributed a 116-ball 70, including 11 hits to the ropes.

Waqas, on the other hand, struck nine fours and three sixes in making 103 off 108 deliveries while batting at No 6.

Off-spinner Tabish Nawab grabbed four for 82 in 23 overs with paceman Saad Azeem and part-time off-spinner Hafiz Asad chipping in with two wickets apiece.

Despite half-centuries by opener Jawwad Khan and Mohammad Waqas, Zone-IV fared moderately against Zone-VII as they collected just 245 in 81.4 overs at the Asifabad Sports Ground.

The pair added 71 for the fourth wicket after Zone-IV lost three for 60. Jawwad was run out after scoring 75, a 125-ball knock which was laced with 13 boundaries. Wicket-keeper Waqas was more circumspect during his 156-ball innings of 64. He stroked nine fours.

Off-spinner Razaul Hasan and slow left-armer shared the bowling honours with three wickets each.

Zone-VII negotiated 16 overs to close the day at 28 without loss.
