Two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred while a civilian passerby was injured in a firing incident in Loralai city in Balochistan on Saturday, police officer Nasir Shah told DawnNewsTV.

"This was a targeted killing", Shah said.

While speaking to DawnNewsTV over the phone, the police officer said unknown miscreants had opened fire on the two security personnel in the Majeed Market area of Loralai bazar.

He added that the assailants managed to escape the scene unhurt.

The bodies of the martyred FC personnel have been shifted to Loralai Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

As per Shah, the police, FC and personnel from other law enforcement agencies had reached the site of the incident and an investigation was underway.

Panic prevailed in the already tense city after the fresh act of terror.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani expressed his grief over the martyrdom of the two FC personnel. He condemned the incident and offered his condolences and support to the families of the martyred.

He added that "the cowardly acts of terrorists could not undermine the resolve of security forces".

The chief minister ordered that security measures in Loralai be further strengthened and strict action be taken against terrorists.

This incident comes less than a month after terrorists attacked the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Zhob Range, in Loralai on January 29, which left nine people dead.
