Teaching hospital files case against hostel guard for allegedly raping student

The administration of the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital in Gujrat, Punjab has filed a police case against one of the guards of its students' hostel for allegedly raping a 19-year-old, DawnNewsTV reported on Saturday.

According to the first information report (FIR), lodged in Gujrat's Civil Lines Police Station, the victim was admitted to the hospital's Gynaecology and Obstetrics unit for severe epigastric and lower abdominal pain and heavy menstrual bleeding.

The FIR further stated that she was in a state of shock when she was brought in to the hospital.

The victim's medical reports revealed that the pain and bleeding had been caused by a ruptured ectopic pregnancy that had caused her left Fallopian tube to rupture.

The FIR said that the victim is convalescent.

The 19-year-old told authorities that she had been sexually assaulted by the guard — who himself is 30 years old. He has since been suspended under the Peeda Act, 2006.

The police have formed search teams to arrest the suspect, who is currently on the run.

All such learning institutions where vulnerable female students from far off places are provided resident hostel facilities, must carryout screening of their employees including examination by psychologists to determine criminal tendencies. Under no cirstances young and unmarried, having unsupervised access to these vulnerable young girls, should be employed as guard or other such duties. It is starkly apparent from this unfortunate and disgusting incident, wherein a young unsuspecting girl has been made to undergo such a horrendous physical and psychological damage, happened merely due to slackness of medical school administration. This event should be eye opener for others who are running similar facilities elsewhere. Let us hope police are able to apprehend this sex offender soon and provide justice to this unfortunate victim and her family. The authorities must provide the victim psychological treatment so that she could recuperate and be healed from this life scarring trauma.

It looks like the Administration was involved in this heinous crime for sneaking the rapist out of the police grip. May be one or more of the administrator were involved in the rape scene. SHUT down the damn college where students are not safe.

Sad. Why there was need to give medical details of incident. Even word rape was enough. Here in canada word sexual harrassment and rape only are used to protect victims dignity.

Pakistani judicial system need to be very fast on punishment. Very very sad to hear those types of situations. Special courts should be set up for sexual abuse.
