SHEIKHUPURA, July 4: Scores of people held a demonstration outside the Nankana Sahib post office on Monday against its slow working and demanded immediate transfer of the post master. A number of pensioners had gathered at the post office to collect their amount. There was no arrangement of drinking water. Three old people identified as Hanif (70), Khadija Bibi (75) and Mubarak (65) fell unconscious owing to scorching heat. On seeing them, the people became infuriated, pelted stones and blocked the road.

They alleged that the post office staffers were in the habit of gossiping and delaying the routine work. The protesters demanded immediate transfer of post master Iqbal Shah.

When contacted, Iqbal Shah said the office working was slow because of staff shortage while drinking water would also be arranged in future.

KILLED: A youth killed his uncle over a monetary dispute here on Monday at Dhari Bhattian village in Saddar Nankana Sahib police limits.

Reports said Shafique Bhatti had demanded his loan from his uncle Sajjad Bhatti. When Sajjad showed his inability to return the amount, Shafique shot him dead.
