DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Commissioner, DI Khan, Javed Khan Marwat has said that all-out efforts would be made to make the upcoming anti-polio campaign successful.

Chairing a meeting to review arrangements for the drive, the commissioner called for effective mechanism to wipe out poliovirus from all areas. He said that all available resources would be used to make a polio-free society. The meeting of the divisional task force held at the commissioner’s office reviewed the arrangements for the anti-polio campaign starting from Feb 18.

The meeting among others was attended by deputy commissioner, Dera, Barkatullah Khan, Tank DC Shahrukh Ali Khan , district health officers of DI Khan and Tank, representatives of WHO and Unicef, EPI officials and high-ups of other relevant departments.

Apart from refusal cases, the meeting also focused on the lapses during the past campaigns in the wake of poliovirus detection in Bannu and other parts of the province as well as tribal regions.

The meeting reviewed the security measures for the upcoming campaign during which children would be vaccinated in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and adjoining tribal sub-divisions and the erstwhile frontier region.

Mr Marwat called upon the elders and notables of the region to extend cooperation to the vaccinators in their respective areas for the making the region polio-free.
