TAXILA: A driver survives when a passenger train hit his car on an unmanned railway crossing near Dhoke Hameeda on Wednesday.

Railway Police quoting eyewitnesses said, when the car reached the railway crossing, the driver tried to cross the crossing but he could not judge the speed of the Rawalpindi-bound passenger train coming from Kohat and the train hit his car.

The driver, however, succeeded in jumping out of the car before the train hit the vehicle.

The vehicle was badly damaged in the accident but the locomotive remained safe.

Locals have demanded the authorities concerned to order immediate installation of a gate at the crossing and also appoint a gate-keeper to avoid such accidents in the future.
