Nadeem slams decisive goal

LAHORE, July 2: Two goals by centre-forward Nadeem and one by international Ijaz Ahmed helped Gulberg Club beat Liberty Club 3-1 in the opening match of the Lahore district hockey championship at the National Hockey Stadium’s outer ground on Saturday.

Nadeem put Gulberg Club 1-0 ahead by scoring a field goal in the fourth minute. Ijaz doubled the lead in the 18th minute also scoring a field goal.

Asad reduced the margin 2-1 for Liberty Club in the 23rd minute scoring through a field effort.

Two minutes later, Nadeem found the net to score his second goal to complete the tally. Nadeem was declared man-of-the-match and received a cash prize of Rs 500.
