KARACHI, Jan. 11: Debutant Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (PTCL) registered their maiden win at the domestic level when they defeated University Grants Commission (UGC) by ten wickets in the Patrons Cricket trophy grade-II tie at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium Friday.
The three-day match ended an hour before lunch on the final day as PTCL reached the victory target for the loss of one wicket, scoring 22 got one. PTCL made 221 in their first innings.
UGC mustered 161 in their first innings and were dismissed for 80 in the second after resuming their innings at the overnight score of 32-6.
Atif Raza (26 with two fours) Ghazanfar Ahmed (19) Zubair Javed (15) were the three batsmen reached double figure in second outing.
Right arm medium pacer Yasir Bari was pick of PTCL bowling attack taking four wickets for 25 runs in 16 overs to finish with match figures of seven for 77 runs.
Off-spinner Jawad Hamid, who took five for 65 in the first innings grabbed three for 25 in the second to take his match tally to eight for 90.
PTCL collected 12 points for the win. Junaid Ghafoor and Khalid Mahmood Jr supervised the match while Nauman Nazir was the official scorer.
