LAHORE: Following Supreme Court’s direction for allocating plots to all 9,000 file holders of LDA City housing project within eight months, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) administration on Tuesday sought gearing up the process for land procurement for the scheme, besides submission of the progress report to the apex court every month.

“We have been given an eight-month time to acquire the land for the LDA City project in order to give plots to all the 9,000 affectees. As this timeline has started from Jan 21, the officers concerned and the development partners are required to complete the land acquisition task within the given time frame,” LDA Director General Amna Imran Khan said while presiding over a meeting to review the affairs of the project.

The meeting was attended by the senior LDA officials and development partners for the project--Pak Email, Maymar, Urban Developers and Alpha Estate.

She directed setting up a site office and deputing necessary staff for monitoring the land acquisition by the development partners on a daily basis for ensuring its timely completion.

The meeting participants were informed that 13,000 kanal land along butcher khana distributor, near Ferozepur Road had been earmarked as development area where plots for file holders would be carved out.

Some 8,000 kanals of this land were already available with the LDA, while the process for getting the remaining 4,500 kanals would be commenced by the development partners soon.

The DG also ordered finalising the necessary amendments in the schemes’ layout plan within two days for creating maximum number of plots in this area.

On the occasion, LDA chief engineer underlined the need for purchasing a compact chunk of land for starting development works.
