NAWABSHAH, June 30: The DCO of Nawabshah has directed the taluka municipal administration to ensure supply of water to people after treating it with chlorine and not bleaching powder. In a letter addressed to the taluka municipal officer of Nawabshah, the DCO said that he visited the water distribution places i.e. Rohri Canal and Gajra Wah, and found that bleaching powder was being used for purifying drinking water which was not recommended and could cause epidemic diseases and may be injurious to overall health of communities.

It was further stated that chlorine was recommended for the purification of drinking water and despite installation of chlorine, gas cylinder plants, they were not being utilized.

The DCO directed the taluka municipal officer to immediately stop use of bleaching powder and start using chlorine gas failing which serious administrative and legal action may be taken.

INQUIRY URGED: The DCO ordered an inquiry into alleged misuse of School Management Committee funds here on Thursday. DCO Abdul Razzaq Qureshi on a complaint received from Abdul Hafeez Jamali, resident of the Hassan Jamali village, has ordered an inquiry and directed the Executive District Officer (education) to report the facts within 10 days.
