NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 30: Four places have been declared as sensitive in the wake of rains and flood in the district. At a meeting held here on Thursday, the executive engineer of the Rohri irrigation division identified the places as the Bakhri loop bund, Bhorti, old Jatoi and Shaheed Makhdoom Bilal Bridge near Moro. He said the bunds were being repaired to control the situation in emergency.

The executive engineer said the irrigation staff was patrolling along the Indus river and the Rohri canal.

He said the staff had been given wireless system at all regulators and vehicles had been provided to all sub-divisions.

Naushahro Feroze DPO K.K. Memon said for security of irrigation staff and bunds, police pickets would be established at all important points.

The DCO said lift machines should be arranged to drain out water in case of flooding.

It was decided that emergency control rooms would be established which would work round the clock and two main control rooms would work at the DCO and executive engineer irrigation Moro offices.

Arrangement will be made for relief camps under supervision of the DDO revenue in different government schools where affected people would be provided relief.

Hesco executive engineer Ghulam Shabbir Kalhoro was directed to provide power wherever required in the situation.

KILLED: A trailer-driver was killed and two cleaners were injured when a trailer overturned and fell in a ditch here on Thursday.

A trailer (LTD-740) heading towards Sukkur overturned and fell in a ditch.

As a result, driver Yousuf Kumbhar, resident of Jhang district, died on the spot and cleaners Anwar Jatt of Rahim Yar Khan and Riaz Arain of Layyah were injured.

Both the injured were taken to the Naushahro Feroze civil hospital.

HIJACKED: Two motorcycles were hijacked at different places in the district on Thursday.

Yousuf Mangi, resident of Scarp colony, was on his way on motorcycle when three unidentified armed men deprived him of his motorcycle on the Naushahro Feroze bypass.

Shaman Sand was deprived of his bike on the Tharoshah-Bhirya link road.
