KARAK: The elementary and secondary education department has issued appointment letters of 18 women Certificate Teachers (CTs).

The officials said that shortage of teachers in the district would be overcome. They said here on Thursday that 18 women candidate, who passed the National Testing Service examinations and got qualified marks, appointed as teachers on basis of merit.

They said that there had been shortage of teachers in the schools of remote areas that would be overcome with the new appointments. They said that soon more teachers would be appointed.

The officials said that the newly-appointed teachers were asked to report to their assigned schools within stipulated time to prepare the students before the annual examinations to be held in March.

CONFERENCE: The three-day international research conference concluded here on Thursday at Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak.

Addressing the concluding session of the conference, Vice-chancellor Dr Jehan Bakht said that research could not be separated from education in the modern times. He asked the heads of other departments to follow into the footprints of the library and information science department to arrange such conferences.

He thanked Higher Education Commission for its support to the conference.

He also thanked Dr Prasana Ranaweera from Sri Lanka for participating in the conference.

Dr Saeedullah Jan, the head of library and information science department, said that the conference would help to resolve the problems pertaining to library and information science.

Foreign delegate Dr Prasana Ranaweera thanked the organisers of the conference and said that he was impressed by the rich culture and hospitality of the local people.

He said that he was returning to Sri Lanka with sweet memories. He said that exchange of academia would strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

At the end of the ceremony, the vice-chancellor presented shields to the delegates.
