KARAK: The members of the district council lashed out at the deputy commissioner here on Wednesday, saying he was not releasing funds for the development schemes.

Addressing the session of the council, they alleged that Deputy Commissioner Mian Abidullah Khan Kakakhel was a hurdle to the development of the district. The meeting was presided over by convener of the council retired Major Sajjad Barakwal.

Taking part in the debate, district councillors Mohammad Umer, Rafiullah, Mohammad Sadique and others alleged that the district budget had been passed some six months ago by the council unanimously but the deputy commissioner was not ready to release funds for the schemes. “It is direct intervention in the authority of the district council,” they added.

They said that the schemes identified by them were declared feasible by the engineers but a committee formed by the deputy commissioner rejected the projects and termed the same as non-feasible.

The councillors said that the deputy commissioner had not been releasing the development funds for the last six months.

They also criticised the attitude of the deputy commissioner with the councillors and asked him to dissolve the committee formed by him for release of funds.

DOCTORS: The district monitoring officer of health department, Muneer Ahmad, paid surprise visit to tehsil headquarters hospital Takht-i-Nusrati and found three women doctors absent from their duty.

The DMO visited different wards and blocks of the hospital and checked the staff roll call register. He found three doctors identified as gynecologist Dr Noreen Shabana, dentist Dr Zuhra Islam and medical officer Dr Fozia Noreen absent from duty. He said that a report about absenteeism of the doctors would be sent to health secretary for action against them.

The DMO said that the culture of absenteeism would be discouraged and the employees would be made punctual to provide relief to patients of the district.
