PESHAWAR, June 29: NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman has said that construction of a road from Bannu to Ghulam Khan was necessary as it would work as an alternative foreign trade route for the business community of the province. The road connecting Bannu to Ghulam Khan, a border point between Pakistan and Afghanistan, via Miranshah, would provide direct access to Afghanistan and the Central Asian States, said the governor while speaking to a 20-member joint delegation of the Bannu Chamber of Commerce and Anjuman-i-Tajran, Bannu. They called on him in the Governor’s House here on Wednesday.

The governor said there was tremendous potential for the promotion of business and trade activities in future in the province and Fata.

The delegation said the construction of Bannu-Miranshah-Ghulam Khan road would provide Bannu traders an access to Kabul just like Peshawar. It would bring positive results on the overall trade and business activities in the province, they said.

The governor said the NWFP and Fata had opportunity to develop exports through land route. Business and trade communities should capture the opportunities available in this respect, he said.
