FAISALABAD, Jan 11: A member of the Governor’s Inspection Team has reportedly taken into custody the record of Tehsil Municipal Administration and registrar’s offices for investigation about the overcharging of transfer of property fee by the municipality contractor.
The investigation was ordered by the Punjab governor during a surprise inspection of the registrar’s office in district courts on Thursday when some people informed him of the contractor’s malpractice.
Sources claimed that the contractor had been indulging in corrupt practices for the last many months. They alleged that the municipality staff were pocketing huge sums to keep their eyes close.
They said the matter was brought to the notice of the administration by a number of aggrieved people but no attention was paid to them.
They said the team was ordered to complete the task within the shortest possible time and fix the responsibility.
Meanwhile, the governor, presiding over a meeting of police and other government departments on Thursday night, directed them to evolve target-oriented strategies for bringing the law and order situation under control.
He said a huge amount for various development projects would be allocated in the next annual budget.
