KARACHI: Driver kills constable

KARACHI, June 28: The driver of an inter-city passenger coach shot dead a traffic police constable on Shahrah-i-Pakistan on Tuesday evening. Police said that a passenger coach (JA-9181) was coming from Mansehra. A traffic police constable, Amir Jamal, tried to stop the bus near Al Asif Square, but the driver sped away.

The police constable chased the vehicle and stopped it in front of a petrol pump close to Sohrab Goth. The driver alighted from the bus and shot at Amir Jamal. He was rushed to the nearby private hospital from where he was referred to the Liaquat National Hospital. However, the wounded policeman succumbed to his wounds on way to the hospital.

In the meantime, police arrested the driver identified as Ibadur Rehman, 22.

BODY FOUND: The body of a young man was found from Mewashah Graveyard on Tuesday.

Police said that Muhammad Akram was found dead in the graveyard. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.
