KARACHI, June 28: The City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan, on Tuesday said only an honest and responsible leadership could resolve the city’s problems. Laying the foundation-stone laying of a link road from Madinatul Hikmat to Super Highway, he said, “We are persistently and keenly working for developing a model infrastructure for the city so that speedy means of communication can be ensured and the country can march fast towards progress and prosperity.”
The city nazim said that Karachi, as it was today, looked to be a transformed city because of fast development, and said he and his city government could have converted the city into the finest city of the world had impediments not been created in their way.
“But our efforts are still on and we would certainly succeed in our objective,” he remarked with confidence.
Speaking about the said road, Mr Niamat said the people of New Karachi and Gadap industrial areas, and site area would benefit from the road, and they would be easily able to reach the Super Highway using the road.
Giving details of project, he said two tracks of the road would be completed at a cost of Rs115 million.
The corridor of the road would be 5,400 ft, which would be built on international standards, while footpaths would be constructed on both sides of the road, the nazim said.
Drainages would also be built at two places on the road besides a bridge, which would be constructed over the river.
Contractors of the project have been asked to complete the project within the shortest possible time.—PPI/APP
