THERE has been a lot of hype everywhere since Monday. People are busy making New Year resolutions, plans and talking about how their life will be different in 2019. Making to-do-lists and goals in the new year are things worth appreciating but what we need to do in order to bring about long lasting change is change ourselves.

We will not be able to achieve anything if we sleep till 3pm every day. I have grown up with the saying: “Do not let the sun wake you up, be the one who wakes up the sun.”

I would like to add one resolution for everyone: be a better person than you were last year. Let all of your sorrows and shortcomings be a part of 2018 and start this new year with a better, healthier and stronger aim. Happy New Year!
