SMIU’s FM radio inaugurated

KARACHI: It is due to information technology that today the media has become international and is not confined to local boundaries.

This was stated by Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah at the inauguration of 24-hour transmission of an FM radio service of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) at the varsity auditorium on Friday.

Media persons of the country had to compete on the international level and in this respect, the SMIU had taken a great step by starting the 24-hour transmission of its FM radio ‘Voice of Education’ that would provide qualified and experienced young people to the media industry of the country, he said.

Lauding efforts of the SMIU, he congratulated Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, teachers and students on the most positive addition of the radio service to their academic resources and national media industry.

He also said the SMIU, being the alma mater of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, always played a historic role, especially in imparting modern and quality education to the people of Sindh.

Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said, after getting the status of a university, the SMIU under the leadership of its Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh was playing a major role in imparting quality education.

Students of the SMIU would play their significant role in future by following the ideology of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Speaking on the occasion, VC Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh thanked the chief secretary for inaugurating the transmission of SMIU’s FM radio.

He said that through the radio service, the voice of students and education of the country would reach the world level. He said ‘Voice of Education’ would promote education in the country and if the government of Sindh wanted services of SMIU’s radio, it could highlight educational activities of the provincial government.

Earlier, Dr Ambreen Fazal, chairperson of the department of media and communication studies of the SMIU, presented an address of welcome and highlighted features of the varsity FM radio.

On the occasion, VC Dr Shaikh also presented a souvenir to the chief secretary. An introductory documentary about the SMIU was also screened there.

The chief secretary also visited the Jinnah Museum of the university.
