PESHAWAR, June 26: Police used batons and teargas shells to disperse people of Faqirabad and Dalazak road who were protesting against the unscheduled load-shedding by the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) on Saturday night, residents told Dawn.

They said that the protesters returned to their areas, but continued chanting slogans and throwing stones.

The witnesses said the hide and seek between the protesters and the police ended at 4am on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Faqirabad police on Sunday arrested five residents of the area on charges of damaging public property.

The protest against load-shedding continued on Sunday. Residents of Hashtnagri, Gulbahar and Charsadda road staged separate protest demonstrations against the Peshawar Electric Supply Company.

However, they dispersed peacefully after registering their protest.
