KARACHI, June 26: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has claimed that everyone knew who the killers of the ulema were, but the government was instead announcing rewards for the identification and arrest of the killers.

These views were expressed by a central leader of the MMA, Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, while addressing a protest rally outside Jamia Masjid Binnoria Town on Sunday.

The protest was held against the killings of Mufti Attiq-ur-Rehman and Qari Irshadul Haq, state-sponsored terrorism, target killings, and failure to arrest the murderers of Aslam Mujahid and Jamal Tahir.

Prof Ghafoor said Altaf Hussain was indulged in insulting and humiliating the ulema and using inappropriate language for them. “Would he like to tell people who would lead his funeral prayers after his demise?” asked Prof Ghafoor.

Prof Ghafoor said Pervez Musharraf too was responsible along with the MQM for the on-going terrorism, killings and plunder in the city, as the group (MQM) enjoyed unconditional support and a freehand from Musharraf itself.

Prof Ghafoor said that people hated the MQM as they were fed up with their violent and extortionist activities.

Allama Hasan Turabi said there was the rule of terrorists, extortionists, killers and criminals in the province.
