ISLAMABAD, June 25: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday directed the departments monitoring the flood situation to coordinate their activities to effectively organize their operations in case of any eventuality. Presiding over a meeting, the prime minister appreciated the role of the armed forces in providing prompt relief and carrying out rescue operations in the flood-affected areas in the NWFP.

He was updated on the situation of rivers Indus, Chenab and Jhelum and was told that except for river Kabul, all other rivers had normal flows at control points.

The recent situation in the NWFP was due to increase in temperature and consequent melting of snow, he was told.

The prime minister spoke to the NWFP chief minister and governor, who apprised him of the current situation.

Mr Aziz said all the departments concerned should coordinate their activities for timely prevention as well as for dealing with any post flood situation.
