ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi on Friday said the government would provide maximum facilities to turn Islamabad police into a model force.

“All possible resources and state-of-the-art equipment would be provided to the police besides training its officials on scientific lines,” he told a rank-wearing ceremony of the police.

The minister congratulated the officials who were promoted and added: “Today is a big day for you and your families but do not forget promotion means more responsibilities. You will be given peace of mind through promotions and other facilities and I understand unless your issues are resolved you would not be able to perform up to the mark.”

He said, “the government gives you due respect and will address your genuine issues to make you a model police.”

The minister said he believed in the policy of show respect and gain respect.

Pakistan is a peace loving country and would never accept any dictation. He said in ‘Naya Pakistan’ decisions would be taken keeping in mind the interests of the nation.

Mr Afridi lauded security forces of the country for rendering matchless sacrifices in the war against terrorism and paid homage to the martyrs. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved a special package for betterment of the Islamabad police.

Speaking on the occasion, Inspector General of Police Amir Zulfiqar said 183 officers and officials had been promoted to the next ranks.

Congratulating them, he said the job of the police was very hard and those who got promotion had spent almost 20 to 30 years in service.
