FAISALABAD, June 24: A local Anti-Terrorism Court released yarn dealer Sheikh Riaz alias Bhola Basiwala after accepting his bail while rejected the plea of another yarn dealer Khalid Masood alias Bhola here on Friday.

The counsel for the accused requested the judge to accept his bail applications. He argued that his clients had been implicated in a false terrorism case.

Presenting documents relating to heart problem of Sheikh Riaz, the lawyer pleaded court to provide him a relief on medical grounds. The doctors, called by court, also confirmed the reports.

At this, the judge gave release orders of Sheikh Riaz. However, court cast away the bail application of Khalid Masood.

At least 19 accused, including a police inspector, involved in the criminal case are still in the jail, while the ATC has issued warrants for the arrest of two inspectors, Riaz Shahid and Malik Tariq.

An armed group of local traders and their accomplices along with three inspectors had grabbed a residential plot on Canal Road. On threats of protest from traders and yarn merchants, the police conducted an operation against landgrabbers. Armed men and the police traded fire as a result of which two armed men and a constable had sustained injuries. Later, one of the injured, Karam Elahi, had died in hospital.

Saddar police had registered a case under anti-terrorism act against Khalid Masood Bhola, Sheikh Riaz Bhola and over two dozen of their accomplices.
